Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

2005 Model Contest Call for Entries

Our model contest this year is based on the Busch Dodge Power Wagon with a November 18, 2005 deadline. Be sure and get your entries in before the deadline to be eligible for our great awards! At the suggestion of member Richard Olson, this year’s contest offers a new challenge: to take a specified 1/87 scale model and see what you can do with it. After a vote, the model selected is the Busch No. 44000 Dodge Power Wagon.

To enter: 1. Obtain the specified model 2. Modify it 3. Take photographs 4. Send the photos in

This year we are going all-digital. If you don’t have a digital camera, ask a family member or friend to take a photo for you. Send your photos to: photos@1-87vehicles.org. Please include a reference to “2005 Club Model Contest” in the subject line of your e-mail. Do not send photos to any other Club e-mail address as the attachment will not get through.

All entries must include your name and valid e-mail address.

Contest Rules

1. The contest is open to anyone. It is not necessary to be a member of the 1/87 Vehicle Club. Entrants under the age of eighteen must have permission from a parent or guardian (this is because we post the winner’s name on the Club web site).

2. All entries must be based on the Busch No. 44000 Dodge Power Wagon. Each entry must include at least two, but no more than four, different views of the model. Photographs may be digitally adjusted to improve brightness or contrast but may not be manipulated to include elements not present on the physical model. You may enter as many times as you wish, but you will be eligible to win only one prize (see Rule 12).

3. You may modify the model any way you wish but either (a) the original cab to the cowl and interior or (b) hood, radiator and front fenders must be recognizable after any modification as coming from the Busch No. 44000 Dodge Power Wagon.

4. The theme and presentation must be tasteful and suitable for viewers of any age.

5. By submitting an entry, you are certifying: (a) The model meets the contest standards and is your own work. Exceptions: If the model is the result of a collaborative effort, each participant must be identified. (b) The model has not been previously submitted to the 1/87 Vehicle Club in any form.

8. If you did not take the picture you are submitting, the name of the person taking the photograph must be included with your entry.

9. Entries must be received by 11:59 P.M. Eastern Standard Time (U.S.A.) on Friday, November 18, 2005. The 1/87 Vehicle Club is not responsible for lost, damaged, or misdirected entries.

10. By entering the contest, you accept the following conditions: All photographs entered become the property of the 1/87 Vehicle Club and may be reproduced by the Club without notice or compensation.

11. Winners will be selected by a popular vote of the members of the 1/87 Vehicle Club. All photographs will be displayed in a special Gallery in the members-only section of the Club website within a reasonable time after the close of the Contest. For one week, each Club member will be able to view all entries and select one as their favorite.

12. Prizes: There will be three prizes of gift certificates to issued by and redeemable at Truck Stop Models with the following values: First Place - $200.00; Second Place - $100.00; Third Place - $50.00. These will be awarded to the recipients of the three highest vote totals. In case multiple entries from a single individual are among the winners, only the prize with the greatest value will be awarded to that individual. The remaining prize(s) will be awarded to the individual(s) with the next-highest vote total(s). Other prizes may be awarded at the sole discretion of the 1/87 Vehicle Club.

Winners will be contacted by e-mail and informed how to claim their prize. It will be the responsibility of each entrant to ensure the 1/87 Vehicle Club has their current e-mail address. Any taxes, customs duties or other fees required by law are the responsibility of the winner.
