Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Announcing Club Logo Contest

Our Club needs a logo. It is simple as that. You have the opportunity to not only come up with one, but to win a ton of 1/87 goodies if you have the winning doodle (worth $750!!). And, just for good measure, the name of the club is being changed to:

1/87 Vehicle Club

This change reflects a desire to simplify the club's name and, simply put, is how many inside and outside the club already refer to the club. The club web site will soon reflect the official name change and will incorporate the winner's logo. Comments should be aired on the 87scalecars e-mail/chat list!

The rules are:

1. You must be a paid up club member in order to be eligible. If you are a member and cannot remember when you last renewed, look on your address label of the club newsletter you just received (or will receive the week beginning August 27. 2000). The date on it signifies when your dues are up.

2. All entries must be received by November 15, 2000, and must have your name, address, and telephone number on them. The winner will be notified by mail or by telephone and will be announced in late December 2000 in the newsletter and on this website.

3. Entries must be sent to webmaster@1-87vehicles.org

4. Your logo must contain the new club name in its exact form;

1/87 Vehicle Club

(for example, 1:87 Vehicle Club will not be acceptable, nor will the old club name, 1/87 Vehicle & Equipment Club).

5. It doesn't matter if you have a basic doodle on a napkin or a glossy printout using a graphics program.

6. The logo needs to incorporate the overall representation of our club; i.e., that we are devoted to covering all types of 1/87 scale vehicles. If your logo, for example, is "1/87 Vehicle Club" on the side of the truck then you are not being representative of other vehicles. If it is embossed on the side of a tire then you have left out all tracked vehicles. Not as easy as you first thought, huh? The winner will thus not just be picked just because it is the most appealing to the eye, but also because it best captures the feel of the club.

7. The logo needs to have the club name easily read when shrunk down to fit on a business card or for a letterhead. Oh, yeah; the webmaster says it must also look good on the web site!!
