This year's press conference, one of the
highlights of the 1999 annual convention held in Portland, Oregon, held
some very exciting news for 1/87 vehicle modelers. In addition to the
array of announcements for new products and new projects, we had an
announcement for a new manufacturer too! Check the links in the left
column of this page for reports on additional convention activities.
New for this year's convention was a series of modeling
clinics. Brian Kreimendahl, Intermodal Editor for Railmodel Journal,
presented a clinic on prototypical modeling of intermodal subjects.
John Dulaney presented a clinic on logging truck modeling. Jim Lyon
of Whistle Stop Hobbies in Portland presented an airbrushing clinic
featuring Testor Corporation's line of Aztek airbrushes.
Press representatives included Tom Yagerhofer from Toy
Trucker and Contractor, Wayne Calder, Club Newletter Editor, Bob
Johnson, Club Webmaster, Mike Burt, Toy Car & Vehicles,
Brian Kreimendahl, Railmodel Journal, and Mike Lindsay, Model
Railroad News.
Manufacturers represented this year were A-Line,
ASB Hobby, Boxcar Hobbies, Classic Construction Models, Crescent Station
Models, Enviroscale, Ertl, Heiser's Models, Lonestar Models, Promotex,
Puget Sound Casting Services, and Walthers.
