The 1/87 Vehicle Club will be participating in the upcoming
Grand Rapids, Michigan model train show. The Grand Rapids Model Railroad
Historical Society (www.grmrhs.org/convention)/NMRA
North Central Region Annual Convention will be located at the Courtyard
Grand Rapids Downtown, 11 Monroe Ave., Grand Rapids, Michigan; phone
(616) 242-6000. This is a one day show only, Saturday, October
11, from 9:00AM-6:00PM.
This is part of a New Membership Drive/Current Membership
Service Outreach, or simply a "meet and greet"!
We encourage you to come, attend, and participate! That
means 1) Bring your custom (scratchbuilt or kitbashed) models for display.
2) Sell or swap your current vehicle collection with other members
and the general public.
The only stipulation is that you wear an official 1/87th
Vehicle Club shirt. They are available online here at the club
website. If you don't have a club shirt and still want to participate,
you are cerainly welcome and you will incur a small portion of the
table rental costs.
We hope that this concept will expand to other areas
of the country where there are enough members to make this justifiable.
BUT THIS WILL WORK ONLY WITH MEMBER PARTICIPATION!!
For GRAND RAPIDS, we're looking for members from Lower
Michigan, northern Indiana and Ohio, and folks from the Chicagoland
area but members from anywhere are welcome to participate!
The Grand Rapids event will honor Model Railroader magazine
columnist Lionel Strang who, in his April 2003 "Workin' on the
Railroad" column, gave our Club the highest tribute by naming
us one of the "Ten Best Websites for Model Railroading!" The
Club will honor Lionel with a brief ceremony!
