[This project was ultimately canceled]
Bill Brillinger, who owns Precision Design Company and
the person behind Promotex Online, and Axel Meyer, CEO of Promotex,
have brought the modeling/collecting community an exciting and unique
opportunity to determine the marketability of a very common, yet unavailable,
1/87 vehicle model. The proposal, to offer for sale a model of the Ford
Taurus from the late 1980s/early 1990s (similar to the 1992 prototype
shown above) is as follows:
Promotex Online / Precision Design Co. will begin accepting pre-orders
for a Late 80's/ Early 90's model Ford Taurus in 1:87th Scale at
a cost of $10.00 US per model. Taurus pre-orders will
only be available through Promotex Online.
The minimum pre-order will be 3 cars. We encourage pre-orders of
10 or more.
$3.50 shipping per order, no charge shipping on orders of 10 or
more.
Production will begin after the 1000th pre-order is received The
model will be delivered in several colours and a special limited
colour will be made available to those who pre-ordered only.
The time frame for delivery of this project is 6 to 10 months from
beginning tooling.
If pre-orders do not reach 1000, tooling will not be done.
Money collected for pre-orders will be kept in trust until the
1000th order is received. If the mark becomes unattainable, all
funds from pre-orders will be returned.
The parts list for the vehicle will be comparable to this list:
Chassis
Interior
Dash/steering wheel
Glass/headlights
Body
Front Grill
Front lenses (2) (If feasible)
Rear lenses (2)
Wheels and axles (2)
Front bumper (as a clip if required)
Rear bumper (as a clip if required)

We think this is a perfect opportunity for vehicle modelers
and collectors to participate in a market driven concept that just might
be successful enough to encourage the development of additional models!
Even if the Taurus is not your first choice for a new model, this arrangement
holds the promise for additional projects handled in a similar fashion.
We certainly wish Bill and Axel our very best! Special thanks go to
Bill for getting this unusual project rolling and Axel for agreeing
to underwrite it as far as tooling goes once the minimum order threshold
has been reached! [posted 07/31/2000]
