This very interesting fire truck model is an RMM model of an Amertek
fire truck. The FDNY obtained
2 of
these in the early '90s from the U.S. Air Force. They were used in
the USAF as
rapid intervention crash trucks at air fields. They are small in size,
about
the size of the Ford C in real life. They were designed to be able
to be
transported in the C130 for forward deployment. FDNY initially used
them as
brush fire units on Staten Island. Later one was transferred to the
HazMat
team. The brush unit was disposed of in 2000-2001 and the other
is
scheduled to be replaced some time soon. Special thanks to Jeff Webster for supplying this information
