This is an Athearn Kenworth with some minor modifications like paint,
deck, coiled air hoses, stack, skirts, bumper and lights (all scratchbuilt).
Some Roco mudflaps and Promotex wheels finish it out.
Chester reports that on the coast of Maine a lot of this boat transporting occurs
in the spring and fall going in and out of the water to and from local
boat yards,
hence the day cab. The trailer is an American Limited container dropdeck chassis
with scratchbuilt bunks and Alloy forms diamond plate for a walkway
and, again,
Promotex wheels.
Chester says he wanted to use a lobster boat, but Blue Jackets 1:87 waterline
model scales out to about 60' and there's nothing that big on the Maine
coast. Chester used a dime store toy with a Saran Wrap and
tissue paper shrink protection for the boat.
