This model of a 1923 Kelly - Springfield Truck was built from scratch
in 2002, based on information and an illustration found in an out of
print book, "American Truck Spotter's Guide 1920 - 1970".
The cab and hood were made with styrene and the fenders out of brass.
The stake bed was built up out of scale lumber that was stained with
thinned down paints and heavily weathered with dry colors and chalk.
The wheels were made using modified Circus Craft Wagon Wheels, and
with 7/16" plastic tubing added for the tires. The lanterns are
by Precision Scale, and the driver figure and fruit baskets are by
Preiser. The 1923 model Kelly - Springfield featured an unusual sloping
hood and radiator behind the hood.
