Here's another view of one of the Western Star
twin steer mixers built by Jim and Jamie Groeneweg. The cabs on these
trucks
are revised versions of the basic Italeri Western
Star
cab converted
to
a day cab. All glass is clear acetate cut to
shape. Chassis was made from two Athearn units spliced together with
a 72" spread twin steer, 72" tandem rear bogies,
and fenders constructed of Evergreen
plastic sheet.
Front wheels are Athearn; tires are widened
to
represent super singles or flotation, rears have Athearn tires on modified
Herpa 6 spoke rims. The concrete mixers are from Herpa. All detail
items are made from brass wire or plastic stock,
colors are custom mix model paint clear-coated
with automobile paint. Also shown in Photo
Galleries 158, 160,
and 177.
