It didn't take long for the Groeneweg boys to modify Athearn's latest
offering! Jamie Groeneweg made a three bar grille, newer one-piece
bumper, and updated the cab wheel openings by
adding
flares
and
entry ladders
to
make
it a
1979
Freightliner.
Modifications include scratchbuilt stack mounts, "double donut" suspension,
deck plate, and a scratchbuilt sunvisor. Jamie also shortened the frame
and added the tanks and quarter fenders from a Herpa Freightliner
COE. All this while maintaining that fantastic Athearn factory paint
scheme!
