This Freightliner FLD120 started out as a Jacobs Models resin Condo
(sleeper) shortened to a 42" bunk with a day cab roof with custom
built roof fairing. The side skirting was shortened and a custom front
bumper fabricated. The cab was mounted on an Athearn chassis which
was modified to accept the FLD. Rear suspension was "air bagged" and
spread out to 72", Boley full fenders added to the forward tandem
axle with modified Boley quarter fenders over the rearmost axle. Other
details include straight pipes out of aluminum tubing, mirrors, tailight
bar, bug deflector, CB antenna, windshield wipers, and custom lights
added to the side skirting and front bumper. Chrome is combination
of Bare Metal Foil and Alclad chrome finish. Paint is all R-M auto
base/clear coat and it rides on Herpa wheels/tires; decals for mud
flaps come
from PenBay.
The trailer is a Herpa cylindrical tanker. Also shown in Photo
Gallery 196.
