Constructed in January of 2004, this model of a 1926 Schacht dump
truck features a working dump box, a working lift, and an opening rear
gate, and is based on an illustration of one found in an out of print
book, "Handbook of Automobiles 1925-1926". The model was
built with scratch materials - styrene, brass, and scale lumber. Wheels
for the model were custom made using 3/8" plastic tubing for the
rims, 7/16" file-shaped plastic tubing for the tires, and centers
cut from Grandt Line 43" cable sheaves. The model was painted
with Humbrol enamels and heavily weathered with dry colors and chalk,
and the driver figure is by Preiser.
