This is typical scene from the region arround Cararra, Italy. The
model is based on one of the trucks which brings lumps of
marble weighing up to 30T down steep, switchback roads from
the quarries around Carrara. When loading, the truck is actually
winched UNDER while the block of marble stays put - quite a sight! The Iveco
cab is by Herpa, chassis from Memo, the bed with real wooden runners
and steel loading "rails" is scratchbuilt with a ready made
winch from a Roco Unimog. On display at the
2004 Model Show Europe, Geldermalsen, The Netherlands.
