Second Place - Specialty Category
This vintage logging truck built by Joe Piazza was inspired by an old
Peterbilt logger. The basis for the model was a Lee Town Mack BQ metal
kit. The log bunks are modified Walker castings with added styrene details
and have bearing plates that rotate. The cab roof platform was built
from styrene, scale lumber, and wire with a Cary locomotive horn. The
headache rack was built from styrene sheet and angles. The grille guard
was made from styrene and wire. The trailer was built using a Roco military
crane buggy with frame built from styrene with movable bunks. Painted
with Floquil paints and weathered to simulate the dusty Sierra Mountains
logging environment.
