Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Spartan Gladiator Ladder - By Warren Gleitsmann

In February of this year "Timonium City" placed this new tower unit in service. This model was completed using two Mini-Mover Mack rear mount body and chassis. Plastic tubing was used to hold the Boley axle for easy rolling, a Boley Spartan Gladiator cab was modified with .030" sheet styrene to extend the back of the cab and recessing the ladder into the roof to fit through the door of its station. The .030" sheet styrene was also used to enclose the rear body; index cards were cut to make compartment doors on the enclosed rear body and square brass stock was used to make the working outriggers. The ladder was constructed with the Mini Mover base section and turntable, and the two fly sections came from a Prieser ladder; the basket was constructed with .030" sheet styrene, a Corgi JR snorkel basket base, and a deck gun from a Matchbox pumper. Computer generated patches and lettering and automotive detail tape were used to finish the model.
