This model of a 1916 FWD Stake Bed Truck was started
in March of 2004 and finished in July. The model is completely scratchbuilt
using styrene, brass, and scale lumber, except for the wheels and a
few detail parts. The wheels were customized by modifying Circus Craft
Wagon Wheels. These were filed down to a scale 30", and tires were
added by filing, stretching, and painting 3/8" plastic tubing to
represent early 34-1/2" solid rubber tires. The model features
a tilt bed that is fully functional. An illustration of the prototype
can be found in the book, "American Truck Spotters Guide 1920 -
1970".
