This fabulous model has a long history! According
to Chester Fesmire, "I had big plans for this Dennis Aust KW C500
when I began. And in fact, had it nearing completion when I hit it with
my elbow, sending it to the floor with a piece of cherry lumber following
it down and landing on top of it. The entire cab broke in three pieces
and the mirrors and air cleaners went flying. Well, this is what I managed
to get back together but I'm afraid it's only a shadow of what it once
was." It sits on a Roco M-62 recovery chassis with Roco tires on
Herpa front rims, the rear wheels are made from Herpa rims and pieces
from a 1/25 scale artillery piece. The step treads, fuel tank treads
and walkway are Plano diamond plate, mirrors by A-line and winch from
Alloy Forms. The cab guard and exhaust are scratchbuilt. Any other details
are from the parts box. Quite a recovery, we'd say!
