This model of a 1920 Pierce-Arrow Tanker Truck was made from scratch
starting in 2004, and completed in 2005. The model is based on an illustration
found in an out of print book, "American Truck Spotters Guide
1920-1970", and on a photograph of a vintage Texaco Tanker found
on the internet. Circus Craft Wagon Wheels with filed and stretched
3/8" plastic tubing were utilized to simulate the wood spoked
wheels and solid rubber tires that were common on many trucks of this
period. The tanker trailer was fashioned from wood and partially overlayed
with styrene. The signs are printed paper. Painting with Humbrol enamels,
weathering with dry pigments, and a driver figure by Preiser finish
the model nicely.
