This MASSIVE strip mining shovel was displayed at the 2001 East Coast Meet by Bob Mackendridge. Although Bob was quick to point out that he is not the builder, the model was so impressive that the judges felt this was a worthy winner in the heavily populated construction category [note all the mining and quarry dump trucks in the background]. Made almost entirely of basswood with etched metal walkways and details, this model dwarfed everything else in the show.
