First-time contributor Jamie Hooper sent us these photos of his first scratchbuilt model, a 1:87 replica of the Transporter Engineering car transporter. The TE drawbar is one of most common car transporters in the UK - http://www.transporter-engineering.com/.The tractor unit is a standard Herpa Actros L chassis although the cab has been modified to replicate the low height car transporter cab. The superstructure is scratchbuilt from Evergreen styrene sheet, rods and tubes. The ladders are from Plastruct. The trailer is again scratchbuilt from styrene other than the wheels and tyres which are from Herpa. The cars are BMW 1, 3 and 5 series and an X5, all from Herpa. As illustrated in the attached pictures, the various ramps have been modeled to have the same functionality as the real life unit. The tractor and trailer normally carry 11 medium size cars (photo below) but can carry anything from 3 large vans (photo above) to a maximum of 12 small size cars such as the BMW 1 Series.
