These are models of two types of equipment used by Pacific Intermountain Express (PIE) in the '60s and '70s built by Kevin Shanahan. One (on the right) is a short, non-sleeper cab-over-engine (COE) used to pull 28' double and triple trailers and the other is a non-sleeper cabover with dromedary ("drom") box pulling a 45' trailer. These are kitbashed Athearn Freightliner tractors with the sleeper cabs shortened to non-sleeper "day cab" configurations. The bumper was cut off as was PIE's practice. A-Line wheels and tires are used along with Microscale decals on Athearn Fruehauf trailers.
