Roger Dowden reports he had this GHQ white metal kit that had been beckoning to him for a couple of years. Roger says he was an ardent rodder in his high school years and this would have been his ultimate rod. The kit came with a chopped and “filled” top which he cut down slightly for a more precise fit.
In the engine compartment Roger set aside the flathead Ford motor provided and replaced it with a Chrysler Hemi. He built the Hemi by adding heads to a Jordan block and topping it off with valve covers that he carved from a GHQ sprue. For the intake he built a "dual quad" (two four barrel units) carburetor setup. He also drilled the heads and installed brass exhaust pipes.
A proper hot rod of course needs a big rear, little front tire combination. On the front Roger used the GHQ supplied wheels which he narrowed and then drilled the center to accept Jordan “baby moon” hubcaps. He didn't feel the GHQ rear tires were large enough so he combined six Jordan wheel halves and drilled them to create two “big” reversed wheel assemblies. The paint color could only be Canary yellow.
The Aztec was his local theater. The year? 1965.
