Promoting Excellence in HO Scale Vehicle Modeling

Brush Fire Truck Fleet - By Brian Donato

Brian Donato says that ever since he was a kid, brush fire crews and their vehicles always fascinated him. His fleet of brush fire trucks above include several pickup trucks resembling brush fire rigs. He got the idea by seeing old Cape Cod fire patrol trucks while doing a Google search.

There are Dodge trucks from Roco (above, middle and right) and a Chevrolet truck from Trident (above, left). Some light bars were from styrene or came from Athearn. Decals are from Microscale. Some of the models were sealed with Dullcote, others with a glossy clear coat. Tool boxes were hand made or painted examples from Alloy Forms. The majority of details are bits from the spare parts box. Spotlights are from River Point Station and Busch. The radio antennas are made from beading wire.

The big brush truck #5 (rear) was previously featured in Photo Gallery 554. It's an AM General cab from a tandem refrigerated ice cream delivery truck and a reworked Boley brush body and frame.
