This very impressive Abrams M1A1 tank model was built and donated by Trip Aiken to a fund raising auction held as part of the local USMC (United States Marine Corps) birthday dinner last November. Trip used a Herpa Minitanks model as a basis for the Abrams. He realized the model would have to withstand the scrutiny of soldiers who used the real thing so he tried to get everything correct. Some of the minor details reveal the Abrams to be a US Army version but this is accurate as the USMC used tanks on loan from the Army during the First Gulf War. The model was detailed, painted and weathered then mounted on a small scenery base with clear display cover.
